MECHANICS

"To keep your car in shape it needs decent fuel, quality, strong parts & a smart driver. Do you think your body is any different?"

Choosing a Tire

Physically Prepared

Strength training, regular exercise & better rest makes you fit & more alert for the physically demanding job of mechanic repair. Being on your feet all day, leaning, crouching, getting down on the floor, getting back up, positioning your body in add ways to reach certain parts, lifting, carrying, twisting, pulling & cranking are just some of the daily physical activities that your body has to continually do on a daily basis. The more in shape you are, the better your body is able to cope & recover for the next work day or work week.

Increased Energy

When your body is able to function better & more efficiently, it allows for the extra energy that would have been spent on basic functions & tasks - to be spent on other things. This could include hanging out with friends, checking off some of those honey-to-do lists, or more quality time spent with the kids after long day at work.

Effectiveness

A Penn State University study found that those who exercise, had more pleasant feelings than those who didn’t. Exercise releases endorphins, creating feelings of wellbeing and happiness. A happy worker is a more effective employee, can better solve problems & builds a sense of trust & respect from clients & their peers. When you feel better, you have more confidence in yourself, make better decisions & in the long run - have a more impactful, pleasant experience with everyone.

Mental Wellbeing

Exercise combats effects of physical and mental stress while improving your  brain’s response to stress. You may not be able to reduce the daily stressors in your day, but you can change the way you respond. At the same time, increased confidence & lowered stress chemicals help to manage the symptoms of depression & anxiety. In some cases, even 30 minutes of exercise a day is even more effective than medication! Over 22% of engineers in the mechanic repair industry has thought about self harm. There is a stigma that if an employee reaches out for help about their mental state, they will be made fun of, or be made to feel "less manly" than that of their peers. When your body feels better, your mind can better fight these feelings allowing you to have a better quality of life.

No matter if you work on cars, 18 wheelers, motorcycles or tractors - if you are a mechanic - you need to be in physical shape. This includes being flexible enough to correctly perform your job duties & potentially avoid injury. Money is tight now a days - most people don't always have the luxury of laying in bed when they don't feel well or are in pain. Staying in shape will help to avoid this as much & as long as possible.
